Three things to keep in mind during Thanksgiving while in the midst of a divorce. First, holidays can be tough in the best of times so be gentle on yourself and your family. No need to compete to have the bigger, better holiday; just enjoy the time you have with those who are with you. Second, if this is your first Thanksgiving that you have to share your children or are without your children, take a deep breath. Try to make the exchange quick and simply preparing the children well in advance with positive talk and vibes about the new normal. Third, be thankful. There is a lot to be grateful for in the worst of conditions. Think about change as a positive and look for the new and exciting ways you can spend your time.

Valentine's Day is a lot of pressure on anyone. But if you are going through a divorce when this overcharged day comes around for the first time since your filing it can wreak a lot of havoc on an already crazy making time. The pressure to be "in love", the memories of better days, and the fear of being unloved, or worse, unlovable, all collide in a powerful way. So do not be blindsided! Get yourself prepared! Here are three tips. First, call your bestie and plan a date - whether it is a coffee, a cocktail or a jog and a comedy show, or a ball game and a massage; do anything together except a Jennifer Lopez movie! Second, buy yourself a dozen roses and a bauble. Do not go crazy with the cost of the bauble, just a small token of appreciation for your awesomeness! Third, call in your therapist, your priest, your shaman or your reiki master. Heck, call them all. Gather support for that lousy day. Bonus Tip: Stay off of Insta and all social media unless you are posting your awesome selfies of self-care. Do not be tempted to check in on the Ex. Together we can get through this day. If none of these tips work in the moment and you cannot resist the pressure of the day...call your local suicide hotline. No one and nothing is worth your life Queen!

Black History Month February 2022
The Black History Month 2022 theme, “Black Health and Wellness,” explores "the legacy of not only Black scholars and medical practitioners in Western medicine, but also other forms of healthcare including birthworkers, doulas, midwives, naturopaths, herbalists, and others. Black transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) individuals have nurtured themselves and their communities. Black TGNC individuals have always been at the forefront of the movement for LGBTQ+ liberation and Black civil rights, including William Dorsey Swann and other early organizers of Drag Performances and Balls in the late 19th and early 20th century; to those who helped to lead the collective uprising for queer rights at Stonewall in 1969, including Stormé Delarverie, Marsha P. Johnson, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, and Zazu Nova; to trans and gender non-conforming leaders in the Black Lives Matter movement, including Janaya Khan, Elle Hearns, and Jonovia Chase. Black TGNC people face higher rates of health disparities and discrimination. Further barriers show up without culturally competent care and education about the health care needs of TGNC people. Black TGNC people deserve respect, dignity, and autonomy in navigating their health needs.
